Ten Activities To Save For A Rainy Day
Welcome to Australian Summer - When it's either scorching hot or pouring rain. Luckily on our end of the Coast we're generally blessed with long days full of sunshine, but when the Heaven's open and it starts pouring we're often at a loss for things to do - And when it pours for more than a day, we tend to get a little stir-crazy. We may not be able to go on long hikes or work on perfecting our Summer tans, but that doesn't mean that we can't still have a little fun on the Coast with these ten wet weather boredom busting activities!
Arts, Entertainment and Shopping!
Just in case you weren't aware yet - There's some seriously cool stuff going down on the Coast this week! We've got events from Coomera to Cooly, with the revival of Buskers by the Creek back for yet another year and the grand opening of Coomera Westfield this Thursday. Grab your gal pals and shop to your hearts content with a huge range of sales in just about every store in Westfield, or head down to Cooly Tavern for two days of art, music and entertainment in Australia's biggest busking Festival! Not a fan of art and music? Don't worry, Westfield has plenty of food too!
Sculptures, Shows & Feasts Fit For A King!
The Coast is iconic for its glitter strip, with enough surprises around every corner for you to find something different every night of the week. Whether it's dragalicious shows, #FlashbackFriday's or a new art installment, there's more glitter and glam than in Hollywood! Come on down... You won't be disappointed!
Winter Movies & Wine Masterclasses!
Is there anything better than spending your afternoon eating snacks and sipping wine? We didn't think so. Sanctuary Cove's Winter Wine Fest is right around the corner with plenty of local and international wines to savour, and Burleigh Brewing Co is hosting their next Outdoor Movie Night in a few weeks time. Beer or wine? Why not both!
Theatrical Feats & Vegan Feasts!
What would you do if you stole $40,000? Asking for a friend.
Travel around the world, try new foods and uncover your creative side this week with new shows, new foods and new creative programs to help you enjoy even the coldest Winter nights! We're addicted to carbs so we'll be going straight to The 4217 for their All You Can Eat Pizza & Pasta nights, but maybe we'll swing by HOTA later for a show. What are you doing?
Parties, Paintings & Performances!
We're all about the crazy, the wild and the little bit extra. We love our food, we love our shows, and most of all, we love our booze! The brilliant minds behind Blanc de Blanc are gracing our theatres with their newest show, Deluxe Deluxe, and restaurants and bars all over the coast are providing plenty of food and entertainment to keep us going all night long. Stuff your face full of Chinese food at Lupo, wind down with a watercolour class at Burleigh Brewing Co or get your glitter on for an incredible night of shows... The Coast has got it all!
Play, Paint, Create!
Unleash your arty side... We're celebrating all things creative, and Blues on Broadbeach is back to kick it all off! Start your weekend off at the Coast's biggest free music festival (yes, I said free!), then make your way to the Home of the Arts to experience their newest Art Exhibition, showcasing all the best of the Coast. Get inspired by the sights and sounds of the Coast, then grab your girlfriends and unleash your creative talent in The Craft Parlour's latest pillow painting session. Looking for something different this weekend? The Gold Coast has it all!
Your Winter Wardrobe Essentials In 2018
If you've been out to the shops recently, you would have noticed that the short-shorts and crop tops that usually occupy the shelves of most clothing retailers have been swapped out for skinny jeans and jackets. Winter may still be a few months away but retailers are in full seasonal swing, and if you want to make the most of this seasons fashion trends, you better get in quick.
Southern BBQ's, Sweatathlons and Splendour 2018!
The Easter holidays may be over, but we're still being totally spoiled with choice when it comes to things to do. We've got Southern BBQ's, we've got Sweatathlons, and we've got the official lineup for Splendour 2018! (Cue cheering). Foodies, health nuts and festival-goers unite... This week is for you guys!
Music, Masterclasses & Rooftop Markets!
If you haven't caught on yet, the Coast is in the middle of its biggest party ever. We've got sporting feats in every major sporting center, concerts running on every Beach and roving entertainment right up and down the Coast! There's dance-off's, masterclasses and rooftop markets, and enough music and entertainment to fill every corner of the Coast. We've got 99 problems, but this week boredom isn't one of them.
Art Fests, Sunday Sesh & Chevron Fest!
Between the Commonwealth Games, Festival 2018 and the many pop-up food and arts festivals, we're spoiled for options this weekend. Whether you're in Coomera, Surfers, Robina or anywhere in between, rest and relax and enjoy everything that the Coast has to offer. Watch as street artists transform Robina Town Centre or escape the games with Sanctuary Cove's chill Sunday Sesh. When it comes to food, music and fun, some things are worth travelling for.
Creativity, Culture and Celebrations!
Celebrate all things creative and culture, in a huge explosion of everything food, festive and fun. Get inspired by the creative visionary of 40 of the Coasts up-and-coming talents in Raw's explosive Envision showcase, or pack your stretchy pants and head on down to Southport for a tasty celebration of all things Asian with Australia Fair Metro's Luna New Year celebration. Cultured or creative, there's something for everyone.
What To Buy When You're Out Of Time
It doesn't feel like it was Winter all that long ago, and now we're back into Christmas! There's only a few weeks left before the big man shows up, and if you haven't started Christmas shopping you might want to soon. But what do you do if you've left it too late? If, once again, you've forgotten to buy gifts and now you're stuck with having to buy something in store rather than just order it from the couch? To make it worse, what do you buy that friend or cousin who never wants anything? Well, when it's the week before Christmas and the shopping gets tough, the tough get shopping.
