Cool and Creative Gift Ideas

With the festivities right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to get everybody. It’s always a hard time, we know, thinking of all the people on your gift list and wondering ‘what am I going to get them?’. We all go through it, gifts are hard. Here are some cool gift ideas that are a little bit different than usual but could very well be the best gift yet.

FAMILY HISTORY SET

For the history buffs of the family, there’s always the family history set. Grab some family photos and put them together, remember where you and the fam put all your old letters and cards, those important documents, and put it all together with your own quirky commentary of each event because everything’s better with a slice of you. Who knows, it could become a family tradition with yearly updates.

PHOTO ALBUM/COLLAGE

Who doesn’t love a photo album or collage of all the great moments you’ve spent together? There are plenty of sites/places that help you create an album or collage; all you need to do is find the right photos and perhaps a caption that best suits and decide on the best order to tell your story. A heartfelt gift for the fam, your bestie or your S/O

CREATE SOME MEMORIES

Get a couple of tickets to a game, show, event or experience for you and the lucky person to do together (preferably something you’ll both enjoy). Creating memories together can be one of the best gifts someone can get. Sometimes all you need is a bit of quality time together. Then if you’re feeling really snazzy (or out of ideas for another gift), you can put these memories into a photo album or collage too.

REASONS WHY

A deck of cards/ a set of cards, each with something different you like/love about the person, compliments and reasons they’re important to you. The perfect little pick me up for those days they may need it, or just a reminder that you love them. Cheap and creative, and a way to make them smile. Sometimes all we need is a little bit of lovin’ to give us a little reprieve from the stress.

HAPPINESS IN A BOX

Grab a box/basket and fill it with a bunch of little things you know they like, whether it’s snacks or knickknacks (why not do both?), it’s bound to make them happy. You could even try taking it a step further and colour coding the items to their favourite colour.

NOTEBOOK MEMORIES

If photos aren’t your thing, but you still want to remember all the fun times, a memory notebook might be up your alley. Grab a notebook and write down all those funny quotes worth remembering, the gossip and the experiences you’ve been through. You might even be able to find old movie tickets or the like to put in. Remember to put in the touching moments too, because while it’s usually fun and games, these touching moments will be yours to remember always too.

BORED JAR

We all get a little bored and need some prompting. Find a whole bunch of activities for one person and to do with others, ideas and prompts for writing, then fold or roll them, or even put them on popsicle sticks, and place them in a jar. You can even get creative and colour code each category. A good idea for the creatives in your life, or even just people who get bored easily and like to be doing something at all times.

The struggle is real around this time of the real, especially if you’re bad at gifts in general (guilty as charged here). Sometimes all you need is a little push in the right direction, and remember, it’s the thought that counts.
