Local Bands | Meet Amy Sheppard
You might already know them from their debut studio album, ‘Bombs Away’, peaking at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart, or heard about their second single, "Geronimo", which spent three weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified 5× platinum. It's none other than our fave local band, Sheppard! The indie pop band was formed in 2009 from our very own city here in Brisbane, Australia, consisting of George Sheppard, Amy Sheppard, Emma Sheppard and Jay Bovino, Michael Butler and Dean Gordon.
In 2018, the band went back to their roots and made most of the second album ‘Watching The Sky’ at home in Brisbane. With their efforts paying off, they were rewarded with their second album landing at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The band has been busy refining their identity and defining what they represent in the Australian music scene aiming to leave a unique footprint on the Australian music industry while doing so. Get to know 27-year-old Amy Sheppard, the middle sibling of older brother George and younger sister Emma.
A one-night-stand you won't regret in the morning.
The year is sure flying by now that we're almost in August! Although we're more than halfway through the year the events definitely don't stop coming! We've curated the ultimate list of events for you that you NEED to attend this month. Not to mention that if you don't attend, it could cause serious FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). It's a one-night-stand you won't regret in the morning. Don't say we didn't warn you!
We’re bringing Sunday back. Yeah!
The Sunday roast is a timely tradition all about sitting down to a big meal of veggies, gravy and roast meat with your family to reconnect after a long week of hard work. The roast remains a dish that is treated with respect and care, something special. A meal that takes time and thought to prepare and should be celebrated with family and friends instead of something to be scoffed down in front of the television on your couch in your underwear. But with the many restaurants around Brisbane serving up delicious roasts any day of the week, makes it easy to keep this tradition alive. It might just be perfect the time to reinvigorate this age old tradition, disconnect from our gadgets and gizmos and reconnect with family over a delicious meal - whether it’s on a Sunday or not.
