Laser shows and artistic wonders await this September
Boldly going where no festival has gone before, Brisfest is back with its 2020 Boldly Brisbane program. This year’s festival will look a little different, but the COVID safe plan means we still get to enjoy Brisbane’s most anticipated event of the year. Expect concerts in your street, laser light shows, and some pretty damn amazing art installations.
The Festival will run from September 4-26 and reach 190 suburbs with 91 events and 490 performances across music, art, theatre, and dance. Extra good news, 73 of these events are free!
We’ve put together the low down on this year’s Brisbane Festival, so read on to find out what’s happening this year.

Testing your willpower, one Zoom tutorial at a time
We’ve officially made it to the end of May, and for most of us, it’s been a tumultuous 5 months (Years? Seconds?) to say the least. While the pandemic has affected us all in unique ways, those of us still at university have had a particularly strange first semester of 2020. Here’s what it’s been like, from one student to another, or for those who are curious. And, if you happen to still be studying, congratulations on making it this far – you’re a legend!
It's pampering time!
Rejoice, ladies and gents! Some COVID19 restrictions are being lifted, but that doesn't mean its all over yet. Beauty and Nail salons are free to open, with still come tight restrictions to follow. Social distancing and sanitizing are still necessary. But, finally, we can get some pampering done, and you deserve it after some long, hard months. Check out what's opening!
Spoil your Mama!

Grab the Monet and let's Gogh

Maybe it’s because of all the incredible cultural events coming up, or the sudden drop in temperature, or maybe even an especially good workout (see below). We reckon that after perusing this latest Word on the Street, you’ll be feeling the same. So, let’s get those creative juices flowing and live life in vibrant colour!
Put the petal to the metal

Skip the FOMO and read all about it below.

CAMP HILL ANTIQUE CENTRE & TART CAFÉ
The total refit of the former 1950’s Planet Cinema in Camp Hill was an epic undertaking a few years ago but the results are stunning. The old cinema was saved from the developers axe and Brisbane has Camp Hill Antique Centre & Tart Café, a swish Antique and Vintage mecca to drool over. It's all here, sixty-five dealers of everything from antique and estate jewelry to mid-century furniture classics and collectibles with pieces sourced from Europe, The States, South East Asia and from every nook and cranny of Australia.
