Welcome to Your New Oasis
We’ve found the perfect place to make your midweek blues go away. Presenting the one and only Nodo! Nodo provides a healthy twist on donuts (baked, not fried and made with naturally gluten-free ingredients!), making your snacking experience less of a guilt trip and more of an extra special treat. However, Nodo do more than just donuts, with an extensive brunch menu (also healthy!) these guys have everything you need to brighten up your week.
Say 'YES' to life
Now that we've got mundane Monday out of the way we can focus on the rest of the week, what to do & where to go - Brisbane's a 'sleep when you're dead' kind of city and has plenty of events, eateries, new openings and happenings on offer for you to live (this weeks) life to it's fullest. Catch a bargain, footy game or the mad sweats, whatever you're after, just get out there and grab your life in Bris by the b***s.
7 Events You HAVE to attend
Brisbane is bursting at the seams this coming month with events that CAN NOT be missed. From iconic local fashion designers to international film festivals, art classes to dessert porn to river cruising, we guarantee there will be no empty spaces on your calendar this June. Here are seven events you don't want to miss!
Treat yo' self
Easter is a time when you get to stuff yourself silly with chocolate (and it's semi acceptable), a time where family get together, and of course, it's a time when we get 4 whole days off work #hellyeah. Whether you plan on staying in to devour sweet treats all weekend or you're keen to get out and about, there's no doubt Easter will provide us with the goods this year. Bars, bunnies, breweries and banter, we're going hopping mad just thinking of what's to come this Easter long weekend.
'Welcome to Bowen Hills' has arrived!
Grab your partner and head to Welcome to Bowen Hills for a threesome that you will both gladly partake in. Be seduced by an endless supply of local eats and exotic international fare which is guaranteed to leave you both salivating and crying out for more! #yesyesyes
Fresh, Festive, Fiesty, Freaky & Fun
There’s so much happening at the moment, it’s almost overwhelming. I feel my waistline expanding just thinking about it. Festivals, food, music, arts, fashion, home, lifestyle - whatever you dig - there’s something on for you. Get you diary out (aka iCal) and plan so you don’t miss ANYTHING! #YouGotThis
Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice
Brave adventurer, a fierce battle of thick blends, rich chocolate and rivers of cream await you on this quest. Fear nought, for this was your destiny. The ultimate challenge. The truest test. The quest, for a hot chocolate cuppa.
Stepping away from cliché
To the joy (or dismay) of the masses, Valentines Day is nearly upon us again. Thankfully, gone are the days where the 14th of February meant sunsets, roses and ribbons on puppy dogs, while the rest of us bitter lonely people holed up indoors waiting for the storm to blow over. Quite to the contrary, 2016 has seen V-Day backpedal from its notoriously cheesy potential. Now it’s all about embracing our creative side, and following the path less travelled. It’s about a flirty cocktail (… or three) in Brisbane’s newest retro bar, or a box of delivered alcohol-spiked cupcakes, or a drunken belly laugh with our best friends. So whatever your take on this infamous holiday, be sure to keep it fabulous with our ultimate Valentine’s Day lineup!
Meet the fabulous Emma Cuell
The Good Guide is here to celebrate local is lovely. We get behind Brisbane’s fornightly event, Downey Park Food Trucks, and meet the fabulous founder, Emma Cuell. This lovely lady loves local, and we love her. If you haven’t been to Downey Park to devour food truck porn, then you are missing out. Get behind the brand and support local. Local is lovely and food trucks are truckin’ fabulous!
Gail-Free Sweet Treats
I’ve got to say, being invited to the opening of Nodo café was rather awesome! Nodo Donuts are one of a kind in the current Brisbane donut scene. You see, they’re not only 100% gluten free but are also baked not fried! These guilt-free donuts have been around longer than the current hyped up ones. I reckon Nodo deserves more recognition, tbh.
Fortnightly Food Truck heaven
The Downey Park Food Truck “Experience” occurs fortnightly on Sundays between 2pm and 5:30pm. I drove in at 2pm and right before my eyes was an appropriately psychedelic array of food trucks. As you can imagine with 19 food trucks, where to start is the question.
Teneriffe Festival Shenanigans
As you begging you decent down Commercial Rd, the smell of street food, the buzz of excitement, and the playful squeals of excited kids fill the bubble of anticipation as you approach the Teneriffe Festival. The once quiet streets of Teneriffe are transformed into a cultural hub with activities bound to keep you occupied for the day. What takes the cake, is the hidden oasis of stage 38 and ‘Pork, Cork &Fork’.
Teneriffe Festival Highlights
It's that time of year again, time to get your groove on, your appetite ready and your drink on for some series local talent that will be shown off at Teneriffe Festival. Now in its sixth year, the Teneriffe Festival is back and ready to welcome you this weekend. Hello Saturday 4th July... I've been waiting for you!!
