No One Does It Better Than Barbara
The Valley has its music hot spots, but none are hotter and none do it better than Barbara. There are cocktails and snacks to make your mouth water, memories to make your eyes water, and live acts like you wouldn’t believe. Barbara’s the kind of valley girl that has even Daft Punk’s head spinning and legs running to her door. Well, daft punk lookalikes.
On a Winters Day in Brisbane
Winter in Brisbane is such a special time of year. The sky seems to shine extra blue; basking in the suns rays will warm you, not burn you; and the crisp mornings and nights make us Brisbanites so excited that we can actually wear those jumpers buried at the bottom of our wardrobe.
To me, the perfect Sunday on a winters day in Brisbane includes lots of food, trying out as many new restaurants, cafes and bars as possible, a wine or two, a dose of nature, and a good dose of sunshine.
Here are the top five picks for each time of the day …
7 Days of Fish Lane Fun
Beer. It has come a long way from the cold cans buried beneath the half-melted ice of the family cooler. Bars now boast such a broad range of brews, beers and ales, that approaching the bar has become a challenge all unto itself. We’ve all been there. Fumbling over pronunciations, trying desperately to decipher the fifty something names of brews, all the while growing increasingly conscious of the bartenders silent judgement. In the landscape of taverns, bars and pubs, it’s easy to be hard on oneself for not knowing your stouts from your ales. Enter Saccharomyces, a beer cafe that is bringing brews back to ground level.
