Take me to Funky Town with Marvin Gaye Tribute Show as part of Brisbane Festival 2021
On the 23rd September, a celebration of Marvin Gaye’s music will leave you flyin’ high. Tyrone will be paying homage to the enduring legacy of the American singer/songwriter with his band Palimpsest.
Your high school teacher was right, you should learn a language
Picture this, the borders are open, you're travelling overseas, you're asking a local for directions but instead of being that annoying tourist, your'e wowing them after having learnt the language!
Practice makes perfect!

Let's get LIT(erary)
We're all about s(h)elf awareness and we've lined up the best books to get you through when you've hit a slump. It's the perfect time to sort out your summer reading list and get yourself on track to make the best of 2021. So check your shelf before you wreck your shelf and slide between the covers to soak up these amazing books that will change your life.
Feel your shelf
Rise and spine! There's nothing like the smell of new books in the morning and Brisbane has some truly amazing independent book stores for your browsing pleasure. Stop and smell the prose at these local treasures and you can claim all the bragging writes when your friends are begging to know where you've been hiding.
Eat. Beach. Drinks. Repeat.
There’s nothing like stepping onto the sand, into the warm summer sunlight and breathing in the salty air. Take a break with the best ice-cream, sip on a sweet drink (or two) and soak up the sunrays as you lounge by the sound of the ocean. Summer is still here, and we are making the most of it!
Songs that’ll turn you into your boss self
It's safe to say this year has been far from what any of us ever expected. So now more than ever we need some boss music to give us a laugh and remind us all that we are pretty damn great and #blessed to live in Australia. Borders are opening up again and we're feeling inspired. That's why we’ve compiled a playlist that’ll make you happy, confident, ready, and excited to tackle any challenge that comes your way in the rest of this mess of a year and belong. Sing aloud, dance around, or keep it simple because you're on a train, either way, these songs will get you through it all.
CAMP HILL ANTIQUE CENTRE & TART CAFÉ
The total refit of the former 1950’s Planet Cinema in Camp Hill was an epic undertaking a few years ago but the results are stunning. The old cinema was saved from the developers axe and Brisbane has Camp Hill Antique Centre & Tart Café, a swish Antique and Vintage mecca to drool over. It's all here, sixty-five dealers of everything from antique and estate jewelry to mid-century furniture classics and collectibles with pieces sourced from Europe, The States, South East Asia and from every nook and cranny of Australia.
We have your set list sorted!
Road trips take a lot of planning to go down without a hitch, and everyone knows the music is a vital part of it. Someone wants pop, someone wants throw backs, and someone else wants old school rap. It’s no easy feat creating the perfect playlist, but luckily for you, we’ve managed to pull it off (we think). This playlist is the perfect blend of all things iconic, and should provide a banger soundtrack to your next road trip!
Underground but not out of sight
The sway of the crowd, the bass bouncing off the walls and into your bones, the smell of beer, the sweat, the passion. Welcome to Brisbane’s Underground Music Scene. Welcome to Sonic Masala Fest.
Let me tell you the story of how one drunken night lead to what’s become a safe haven for the underground punk rock scene of Brisbane.
