Now that our warm weather is starting to return (does Queensland actually even get Winter?) and Splendour in the Grass is sadly over (I’m not sobbing, you are), we have no doubt that your festival lovin’ heart is aching for more. There is no need to go into meltdown quite yet because Brisbane is bursting at the seams with festivals that are quite honestly, unmissable! Don’t pack away the face glitter and sequin tops just yet because here are five fun festivals ahead this spring!
1. Big Sound | 4 -7 Sept
Discover the future of music and experience Fortitude Valley come alive as BIGSOUND festival returns this September! Running over four days and nights, BIGSOUND is set to once again showcase tomorrow’s stars in music and present invaluable opportunity to learn from the best and meet new, international collaborators. Having previously uncovered names like Flume, Rufus and Gang of Youths – you never know who you might discover at this festival.
2. Listen Out | 30 Sept
After selling out every single city last year, Listen Out Festival is touring the country yet again with some pretty impressive acts on its line-up – A$AP Rocky, anyone? Dust off your best mosh pit shoes and braid that hair because it’s time to party! As Australia’s premier dance music festival, there is no question as to whether or not you should get your hands on some tickets.
3. Diner En Blanc | 13 Oct
Prepare to get your fancy on at the Le Diner en Blanc Calgary, as it has announced its return for its 7th This white themed dinner party is a classy event that you do not want to miss. As always, this event demands that you wear exclusively white clothing, and bring your own table, chairs and tablecloth. As for location, the event will remain hush hush until the day of. Scandalous!
4. Brisbane Festival | 8 – 29 Sept
The Brisbane Festival – a family favourite – is back again with a crazy exciting program of theatre, music, dance, circus, opera and its infamous end of festival ‘Sunsuper Riverfire’. Aiming to lift our spirits and inspire us to think differently about how we live in the world – the Brisbane Festival is too good to miss.
5. Expresso Martini Festival | Aug 14
Coffee (and alcohol) lovers rejoice! Coming back for round two, the Espresso Martini Festival is set to return to Brisbane this EKKA Holiday Eve. This year’s cocktail line-up spans from classic brews to modern takes on the fan favourite – the rum and salted golden syrup espresso martini is the only thing on our minds. If you still need a reason to attend (at this point, not likely) Fish lane, Brisbane’s most vibey little laneway is set to host this caffeine fuelled celebration!
