Oui Oui, Magnifiqué!
Rouge is the name. Not your regular shade of lipstick or blush, but a lavish French bar and bistro downtown. Hues of bold crimson red and flourishing streaks of soft ethereal lighting paint the atmosphere as you step in. The extravagant décor just leaps with grandeur. Madame and Monsieur, this way in. Voilà, welcome to Madame Rouge Bar & Bistro.
On a Winters Day in Brisbane
Winter in Brisbane is such a special time of year. The sky seems to shine extra blue; basking in the suns rays will warm you, not burn you; and the crisp mornings and nights make us Brisbanites so excited that we can actually wear those jumpers buried at the bottom of our wardrobe.
To me, the perfect Sunday on a winters day in Brisbane includes lots of food, trying out as many new restaurants, cafes and bars as possible, a wine or two, a dose of nature, and a good dose of sunshine.
Here are the top five picks for each time of the day …
7 Days of Fish Lane Fun
Beer. It has come a long way from the cold cans buried beneath the half-melted ice of the family cooler. Bars now boast such a broad range of brews, beers and ales, that approaching the bar has become a challenge all unto itself. We’ve all been there. Fumbling over pronunciations, trying desperately to decipher the fifty something names of brews, all the while growing increasingly conscious of the bartenders silent judgement. In the landscape of taverns, bars and pubs, it’s easy to be hard on oneself for not knowing your stouts from your ales. Enter Saccharomyces, a beer cafe that is bringing brews back to ground level.
Brisbane's best authentic Japanese noodles (Ramen)
If the way to a persons heart is through their stomach, then Ramen gets the job done on the first bite. Obtaining authentic Japanese noodles may seem exclusively only holiday goers, boasting on their statuses that authentic is best. Quite frankly, we couldn't agree more. If counting your frequent flyer points has your heart sinking then read on, because here at The Good Guide we’ve explored where to get your noodle fix back on home turf.
Brisbane's best winter menus
Oooh boy! It is getting cold outside. To keep you warm from the inside, we've picked some of Brisbane's best winter menus.
LIVE MUSIC & LAUGHTER, WINE & DINE, CHEERS & BEERS
Got a hot date, family outing, or a friend (or many), or friends you are yet to meet? West End has plenty of good times, and The Good Guide knows where to find them. *Cheers
New Winter Menu
The Priory Kitchen in Woolloongabba is the perfect casual and professional culinary destination, featuring a fabulous fusion of contemporary and industrial decor with splashes of greenery and classic art murals lining the walls. Their delicious new winter menu developed by owners Mike and Amy Bates (founders of Pablo in New Farm) will certainly hit the spot, with the decadent yet balanced potato rosti and pork belly dish proving a delectable favourite. The Priory boasts locally sourced seasonal produce and is always introducing exciting new menu ideas that are simple, fresh and creative. #foodporn
