Word On The Street #102
Mondays are the new Saturdays
Do you tend to suffer from the Sunday blues or Monday-itis? Well, we've found these temporary illnesses can easily be cured and that's by pretending those days simply, don't exist. Whether you work in the hospitality industry and weekends are imaginary or you work the average 9 - 5, there's so much happening around the clock in Brisbane, you never have to miss out on anything. Perhaps a sneaky Sunday banquet is just what the doctor ordered, or maybe a 2 for 1 pizza deal is the antidote you're looking for. Whether you find chilling out with a drink the ultimate relaxation or prefer kicking back at the movies, we've come up with a few ways to start your week right. Monday's are the new Saturday's after all..
Casa Cibo | Chermside
Did someone say two-story Italian eatery? Casa Cibo is the newest restaurant to open up in Westfield Chermside's stylish food precinct. With two imported wood fried pizza ovens from Naples, weighing in at three-and-a-half tonnes each, it's safe to say they don't take things lightly. Slow roasted wagyu, pizzas and porchetta are some of the dishes you'll find baking in the ovens, while there are also antipasti plates, salads and share boards available. The first floor centers on large wood fried ovens (named Betty and Myrtle), with a large feature tile floor and timber seating. Upstairs is the main kitchen and bar, with booth seating and a veranda for outdoor dining. Hit up the bar and you'll find your liquid favourite's including a range of Italian, Australian and New Zealand wines on offer, including chilled wine on-tap. Beer is also available on-tap or by the bottle. Did we mention Monday's are 2 for 1 pizza? Start your day with a spot of shopping and end it with drool-worthy food and booze!
Banquets are our favourite style of dining experience so when we found out Aquitaine felt the same way, we got V excited (and hungry). Every Sunday from 5 pm, the South Bank eatery have decided to ditch the menu's, and put on a tasty spread instead. Chefs Table is a 'no menu' dinner, with the dishes hand selected by the chefs each night. For only $45 pp, you'll get to sample numerous dishes from their menu, every weekend. You know where to find us this Sunday!
Hobby Lane | Mitchelton
If there's thing we can't get enough of, it's the amount of trendy suburban cafe's popping up around Brisbane lately. Hobby Lane is Mitchelton's newest (and cutest) resident to dish up the breakfast goods. Priding themselves on using only the highest quality of ingredients, full of flavour and served with nothing but love and care, this delicate eatery sure know how to please the people. If you want passion on a plate or in a cup, Hobby Lane is the place to go! Morning coffee pit-stop destination?

Hats off to those who work in the hospitality industry, we say. All those long hours spent on your feet, cleaning up after grubs and often dealing with rude AF people - you totally deserve a break! What better way to chill out than a night at the movies? Blue Room Cinebar are dedicating every Monday night to the hard working hospo folk with cheap tickets, cheaper food and a fully stocked bar #yass. Their first hospitality night kicks off April 9 and will be screening the foodie industries iconic flick, Waiting (MA). Ryan Reynolds on the big screen? We're in with a grin.
