Word On The Street #119
It must be love..
It's true what they say; love comes in all shapes and forms. Our greatest love is food (obviously) but, we also love being preened & pampered, we love giving our support to a good cause, we love music, socialising and trying new things and, most of all, we love LOVE. Whether your heart beats faster for another human or, a delicious bubbly beverage gives you the warm and fuzzies, we bet you'll find something lovely to do with someone you love in Brisbane over the next few weeks. Why not get the blood pumping at these exciting events...

Foodies, listen up! We're excited to announce the seventh annual James Street Food & Wine Trail is back #hellz-yeah. This year’s event has been condensed into two jam-packed days of deliciousness. The last weekend of July will play host to the event with Trail Day kicking off on Saturday 28 July, followed by the ever-popular Market Day on Sunday 29 July. Trail Day will see local collaborations take center stage with Brisbane MINI Garage partnering with Pineapple Express to host a MINI Tailgate Party in James Lane and, Gerard’s Bar and Harveys Bar + Bistro will be teaming up with Bee One Third for sweet pairings with James Street’s very own honey. The culinary adventure will continue with Market Day, where over twenty-three James Street vendors will serve restaurant quality fare as they takeover the street from 10am to 6pm. Effervescence Champagne Festival | Aug 31 - Sept 2
Whoever said 'diamonds' are a girls best friend clearly hasn't tasted a fancy bottle of bubbles! Raise a glass to this years most poppin' event, the Effervescence Champagne Festival. Held at the exclusive Spicers Hidden Vale on Septemeber 2, celebrate everything sparkling, along with tastings, live music, lazy long lunches, French-inspired markets and masterclasses that'll guide you through the different regions and styles of champagne. This year also sees a special new event; the Three Chef Truffle Lunch! The 3 course lunch stars the rare and expensive truffle, with each dish matched with champagne and produced by superstar chefs, including French chef Bruno Loubet, former Masterchef contestant Danielle Dixon and Spicers' own Ash Martin. Round up the squad, don your fanciest frock (or suit) and get ready to taste the stars this Spring.
Our favourite urban hub, King Street, will transfer into a giant garden street party on September 8 when Brisbane Festival hosts the weddings of eight real-life LGBTIQ+ couples. Radiating rainbows in the electorate that polled the highest 'YES' vote in Queensland in last year's marriage equality survey, Qweens on King will see 8 LGBTIQ couples tie the knot on stage, sharing their special day with the best of Brisbane's queer performers and the launch of the 29th annual Brisbane Pride Festival. The music has been chosen, flowers arranged and photographer booked, the only thing missing are the couples! If you and your partner would love to tie the knot in historic fashion, then register you interest now. Make your special day one to remember!
