Winter Movies & Wine Masterclasses!
Is there anything better than spending your afternoon eating snacks and sipping wine? We didn't think so. Sanctuary Cove's Winter Wine Fest is right around the corner with plenty of local and international wines to savour, and Burleigh Brewing Co is hosting their next Outdoor Movie Night in a few weeks time. Beer or wine? Why not both!
Theatrical Feats & Vegan Feasts!
What would you do if you stole $40,000? Asking for a friend.
Travel around the world, try new foods and uncover your creative side this week with new shows, new foods and new creative programs to help you enjoy even the coldest Winter nights! We're addicted to carbs so we'll be going straight to The 4217 for their All You Can Eat Pizza & Pasta nights, but maybe we'll swing by HOTA later for a show. What are you doing?
Build A Bangin' Bod Right In Time For Summer
We all know the saying - Summer bodies were made in Winter. With the temperature hitting single digits and the sun going down around 5, it's much easier to think about curling up in bed than it is to get up and get sweaty. If we want to have banging Summer bods when Christmas rolls around, we'll have to put in the work... But the least we can do is make it fun!
Food, Fun & Theatre!
I hate to break it to you, but it's already July! We've had six months of food, culture, events and fun, but it's not over yet. There's new Mexican restaurants, exciting new live shows and even Christmas in July! Grab your friends and your jacket and slide down the rabbit hole... You never know what you'll discover!
Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth This International Chocolate Day
In case you didn't know, it's my favourite day of the year this weekend. What's that? It's international chocolate day this weekend! International chocolate day falls on Saturday this year, which means you have no excuses not to go out and stuff your face full of chocolate-y goodness. Fill your hands, bellies and hearts with Chocolate Balls, Hot Chocolates, Chocolate Waffles and Cakes, and celebrate International Chocolate Day the only way we know how... With food!
Cheers To The Weekend!
Sunsets on the beach or Sunday's on the roof? When you're on the Coast, why not do both? Sometimes there's nothing better than stopping, slowing down and taking some time out, and where better to do that than at The Byron in Byron Bay? If you want something a little closer to home, fly over to Southport's newest rooftop bar - But if you're just after a good feast, Carl Jr's newest burger bar is the way to go!
Parties, Paintings & Performances!
We're all about the crazy, the wild and the little bit extra. We love our food, we love our shows, and most of all, we love our booze! The brilliant minds behind Blanc de Blanc are gracing our theatres with their newest show, Deluxe Deluxe, and restaurants and bars all over the coast are providing plenty of food and entertainment to keep us going all night long. Stuff your face full of Chinese food at Lupo, wind down with a watercolour class at Burleigh Brewing Co or get your glitter on for an incredible night of shows... The Coast has got it all!
6 Sweet Sunday Sessions To Help Prolong Your Weekend
There's nothing more Aussie than grabbing a couple of mates and a couple of beers before spending the afternoon listening to live music on one of the nearest Coastal rooftop bars. We love our weekends, and we love it even more when they last as long as possible, so why not say goodbye to the weekend in style and head down to your nearest #SundaySesh? To make it even easier for you, we've made a list of six of the best places to hang this Sunday arvo, so why not grab a friend and a beer and ride out the weekend in style!
Free Food, Fine Whiskey & Sake Feasts
With a plate of food in one hand and a glass of your favourite drink in the other, life looks pretty good. We're spoiled for choice when it comes to places to eat on the Coast, and some of our favourites are about to make the choice a whole lot sweeter, offering Whiskey tastings, Sake feasts and free food, filling our calendars and our bellies. Whether you're a foodie or just enjoy the finer things in life, there's something for everyone. So don't worry... Get hoppy!
7 Things You Have To Do This Winter
Well, Winter is here. Say goodbye to the long days and short nights, the warm weather and bright, sunny skies. We're lucky enough that we only really experience cold weather for a few weeks out of the whole three months (thanks Gold Coast!), but unless you plan on being a recluse for the entire season it's a good idea to seek out some Winter alternatives to keep you occupied.
Tunes, Tastes & Top Golf!
In the famous words of David Bowie... Make the best of every moment. The coast is full of new tastes, shows and venues to explore, with something for everyone popping up around every corner. We've got delicious new menus, explosive new theatre, exciting new festivals and an Australian-first Theme Park popping up this week... So what are you waiting for?
8 New Winter Menu's To Wrap Your Mitts Around
Let's be honest with each other. Sure, we all love our Acai Bowls and Avo on Toast in the Summer, but isn't it high time we pulled out the stretchy pants and piled on the pancakes? There's nothing better than a cup of coffee and a hot breakfast in Winter, and with the weather turning cold all of our favourite restaurants and cafe's are pulling out the pans and frying up some hot, tasty goodness for us to wrap our frozen fingers around. Now we have to go and taste it all!
Serums, Sweets & Sounds
What do sweets, singing and skin care all have in common? We love all three! Oh My, Waffle has come out with an exclusive new Hot Chocolate this week to ward of the winter weather, and Home of the Arts is treating us to the sweet sounds of Belladiva with an exclusive one-day Opera concert! Don't feel like heading out? Treat yo'self to a pamper day at home!
The Spirit Of Churaki
You may only know him from that incredible bass line in Blister in the Sun, but the Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie is so much more. On the days when he’s not pairing up with some of the best in Australian music, like his band The Break, full of members of Midnight Oil, Ritchie has lent his time as musical director to a new show on the Gold Coast called The Spirit of Churaki. Churaki was an Aboriginal man, and the first ever LifeSaver, performing daring rescues on the Gold Coast’s southern beaches in the 1900’s. His mostly forgotten story is being brought to life, with Ritchie forming the music with the help of a whole lot of others. We caught up with Brian to hear about the project and learn more about him.
