7 Things You Have To Do This Winter
Well, Winter is here. Say goodbye to the long days and short nights, the warm weather and bright, sunny skies. We're lucky enough that we only really experience cold weather for a few weeks out of the whole three months (thanks Gold Coast!), but unless you plan on being a recluse for the entire season it's a good idea to seek out some Winter alternatives to keep you occupied.
Tunes, Tastes & Top Golf!
In the famous words of David Bowie... Make the best of every moment. The coast is full of new tastes, shows and venues to explore, with something for everyone popping up around every corner. We've got delicious new menus, explosive new theatre, exciting new festivals and an Australian-first Theme Park popping up this week... So what are you waiting for?
The Spirit Of Churaki
You may only know him from that incredible bass line in Blister in the Sun, but the Violent Femmes bassist Brian Ritchie is so much more. On the days when he’s not pairing up with some of the best in Australian music, like his band The Break, full of members of Midnight Oil, Ritchie has lent his time as musical director to a new show on the Gold Coast called The Spirit of Churaki. Churaki was an Aboriginal man, and the first ever LifeSaver, performing daring rescues on the Gold Coast’s southern beaches in the 1900’s. His mostly forgotten story is being brought to life, with Ritchie forming the music with the help of a whole lot of others. We caught up with Brian to hear about the project and learn more about him.
Music, Masterclasses & Rooftop Markets!
If you haven't caught on yet, the Coast is in the middle of its biggest party ever. We've got sporting feats in every major sporting center, concerts running on every Beach and roving entertainment right up and down the Coast! There's dance-off's, masterclasses and rooftop markets, and enough music and entertainment to fill every corner of the Coast. We've got 99 problems, but this week boredom isn't one of them.
Art Fests, Sunday Sesh & Chevron Fest!
Between the Commonwealth Games, Festival 2018 and the many pop-up food and arts festivals, we're spoiled for options this weekend. Whether you're in Coomera, Surfers, Robina or anywhere in between, rest and relax and enjoy everything that the Coast has to offer. Watch as street artists transform Robina Town Centre or escape the games with Sanctuary Cove's chill Sunday Sesh. When it comes to food, music and fun, some things are worth travelling for.
Sips, Shows and Celebrations

Enjoy your final days of freedom with A Night at the musical, or shake off the week with Cabana Bar's Tropical Tiki Tastes. Bring on the weekend!
Celebrate In Style This Race Day
It's one of Australia's biggest events of the year. We dress up, head out and celebrate as our favourite horses cross the finish line. While we're not as lucky as our Southern friends who get the race day off, but many of us still take a sickie to go and celebrate - and with the number of incredible events on, who can blame us? From rooftop raves to canapes by the coast, the Gold Coast's best restaurants are hitting it off - And we know exactly where to go!
Fitness, Fun and Free Ice Cream!
Things are heating up on the Gold Coast, and this week we're all about cooling down and chilling out. From busking battles to sunset yoga, the Coast is coming alive with all things music, arts and entertainment. We'll be dressing up and heading out, but if you can't handle the heat, never fear - Robina has free ice cream!
Gold Coast Nightlife
The Gold Coast is all about its nightlife, and with new bars opening up all over the coast, you’re sure to find somewhere to party! From dark and dangerous to fun and fluorescent, the Gold Coast’s variety is endless. Not into bars and clubs? Laugh your heart out at the Arts Centre or stuff yourself silly at a Street Party!
The best food and fashion that the Brickworks has to offer
The weather's getting warmer, the days are getting longer and Gold Coast festivals are back in full swing. From food and fashion to health and beauty, the Coast is alive and buzzing with a variety of festivals and events to welcome in Spring. Hosted every year in early September (this year it was on the 10th), the Brickwork's Inside Out event was certainly no exception - Showcasing the best of the Brickworks' food, fashion, health and beauty, it certainly wasn't a day to miss!
