GC Word on the Street #76

The Easter holidays may be over, but we're still being totally spoiled with choice when it comes to things to do. We've got Southern BBQ's, we've got Sweatathlons, and we've got the official lineup for Splendour 2018! (Cue cheering). Foodies, health nuts and festival-goers unite... This week is for you guys!

BBQ Bazaar

Burleigh is all about the three B's - Beaches, Bars and Boarding - And now they've added a whole other level, the Big BBQ Bazaar! Inspired by our favourite Asian and Southern Texan flavours that'll leave your mouth watering, this new foodie festival celebrates all things meat. Let the scent of brisket, sausages, satay and wood fired pizzas lure you in between the stalls, where you'll encounter BBQ flavours from every corner of the globe. With a BBQ Bao in one hand and a slice of Pizza in the other, take a seat at the bar or enjoy the live music floating over from the stage. Running every Friday and Saturday afternoon until 10pm, Running every Friday and Saturday night and embodying Australian foodie culture perfectly, it'd be un-Aussie to miss Burleigh's first night market!

The Sweat Social Gold Coast Sweatathlon | April 22nd

Unless your metabolism is faster than Usain Bolt, chances are you'll be looking to work off any extra Easter padding right about now - Which is why Sweat Social is hosting their very first Gold Coast Sweatathlon! Kicking off at 7am at F45 studio in Southport and making their way through InspireCycle then Soul Centre Yoga, you'll work hard and go far in quite possibly the sweatiest session of your life.

For as long as I can remember I’ve had a passion for all things creative, and so when it came time to choosing my degree it was only natural that I gravitated towards studying Creative Writing at Griffith University. I’m in my final year of University now and plan to graduate in November, but when I’m not out at University you’ll often find me curled up in some secluded corner of my house with headphones and a good book or brewing coffees down at my local Café. Occasionally you can also find me outside with my partner, family or dog, but only when the weather is warm enough. I love the rain and cold weather, but only if it’s outside and I’m inside. Born and raised on the Gold Coast, good beaches, good vibes and good company are some of my favourite things in life.
