Ten Activities To Save For A Rainy Day

Rainy Day Cures

Welcome to Australian Summer - When it's either scorching hot or pouring rain. Luckily on our end of the Coast we're generally blessed with long days full of sunshine, but when the Heaven's open and it starts pouring we're often at a loss for things to do - And when it pours for more than a day, we tend to get a little stir-crazy. We may not be able to go on long hikes or work on perfecting our Summer tans, but that doesn't mean that we can't still have a little fun on the Coast with these ten wet weather boredom busting activities!

Paint & Sip | Brush & Barrel Gold Coast

What's the easiest way to forget the bad weather and all of your problems? With a glass of wine. And what do you get when you combine that with a paint brush and a whole room of friends? The Coast's latest craze, paint & sip classes! Grab your gal pals and your favourite bottle of red and head down to Brush & Barrel in Surfers Paradise, where you can wait out the wet weather with a paintbrush in one hand and a glass of wine in the other while you're taught the basics of painting by their Social Painting Instructor. We'll see you there!

Get Creative | The Craft Parlour

The Craft Parlour is always full of fun and quirky ways to get creative, and if you haven't been there yet this week is the perfect time to go and check it out. Hosting classes teaching everything from painting and screen printing to sewing and ceramics, you'll easily find something you'll love! Grab your gal pals and book yourselves in for an evening of sewing, screen printing or ceramics, and come home from the class with new skills and an adorable keepsake for you to keep in your own home!

Check out a Performance | Home Of The Arts

HOTA is always full of galleries, movies, music and performances - So why not take the opportunity to dress up and enjoy a show? Grab some friends and check out the popular new movie Crazy Rich Asians, or head over to the Art Gallery to see their latest exhibition, Energies 2018. If you're into theatre, there's also plenty of dancing, comedy and musical performances to keep you occupied in the following days, so why not grab some tickets and enjoy a show?

Hop Over To a Brewery

So maybe you're not so creative - Why not spend the rainy days visiting all of your favourite breweries? The Coast has some pretty incredible Breweries (and some pretty tasty craft brews!), so why not grab your mates and settle in among the barrels, re-acquainting yourself with old favourites and discovering a new love. Burleigh Brewing Co, Balter Brewing, Lost Palms Brewing Co and Black Hops Brewery are all local favourites, but if you're willing to travel a little you can't go past Fortitude Brewing Co in Mount Tamborine, with plenty of live music and food to help you welcome in the weekend in style!

Treat Yo'self

It's pretty easy to get into a slump when the days are grey and dreary, so why not take some time to look after yourself and treat yourself a little this week. Whether you just want to get a mani/pedi or whether you need a full body massage, there's tonnes of places all over the Coast that'll leave you feeling truly pampered. Check out Pure Indulgence or Miss G's Nail Lounge for all of your nail-care needs, or i you're feeling like more of an all-day pamper sesh, why not take yourself down to The Bathhouse, Halcyon House or SpaQ for a day of relaxation?

Hit The Arcades

We all remember how easy it was to spend hours playing Arcade games when we were kids, and sometimes the easiest way to cheer ourselves up after a long week is to let loose and just have some fun. Nobody said Arcades were just for kids anyway! Take yourself back to your childhood days and spend an evening at Timezone with your mates, or wind down after a hard working week with an epic game of Lazer Tag at Game Over!

Try Indoor Skydiving | iFly Gold Coast

So we wouldn't recommend skydiving through a storm (you'll get pretty wet, not to mention it's kind of dangerous), but we would recommend trying out the Coast's only indoor skydiving space! If you've ever wanted to go skydiving but you're not so keen on the whole jumping out a plane part, you'll absolutely want to check out iFly Gold Coast. Book yourself and your mates in for a skydiving session and experience the thrill of skydiving twice in their special skydiving chamber - And if you're lucky, you might even get to learn a trick or two!

Hit the Driving Range

No, we don't mean the outside Golf Course. As much fun as it is to head to the driving range outside, we think Golf would be a whole lot more enjoyable if you were able to stay dry and have a couple of drinks while you do it! Top Golf is one of the Coast's most popular new venues, and you're than welcome to escape the rain and book yourself in for an evening of boozy golf with mates, but if you're based on the Southern end of the Coast you'll want to check out Holey Moley in Surfers Paradise. Mini Golf, Karaoke and Cocktails all rolled into one? Um, yes please!

Go Out For Brunch

Just because it's cold and wet outside, doesn't mean you can't grab your gal pals and head out for a super cute brunch date! We're totally spoiled for choice when it comes to places to eat and drink, so we can guarantee that you'll find something super tasty to eat no matter what your dietary requirements. We recommend Caffe Republic in Bundall, Pier B Wholefood Cafe in Sanctuary Cove, Bam Bam Bakehouse or Le Cafe Gourmand in Mermaid - With plenty of pastries, good coffee, gluten-free and vegan options, we guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Go on a Shopping Spree

We all know there's nothing better than buying that cute new dress or pair of shoes you've been eyeing off forever, so why not hit the shops with some friends? Whether you're looking for chic and modern, something cheap, something vintage or you're prepared to really splash out, you'll find something cute in one of the Coast's hundreds of retail stores, and with the new Westfield opening in Coomera this Thursday, you're about to have even more options! Head out to The Marine Village in Sanctuary Cove and check out their super cute boutique retailers for a one-of-a-kind piece, or go down to Pacific Fair and indulge in a bit of retail therapy then finish the morning off with a coffee from one of their cafes. Go on, you know you want to...

I'm a creative at heart - I love reading, I love writing and I love my social media! I spend the majority of my time sipping coffee and finding the next best cafe, but when I get a second off chances are I'll be brunching at my local or running off to whatever event is on that night! During Summer you can find me sipping coffee and tanning down by Burleigh Beach, and in Winter I'll be skiing the slopes of Perisher or buried under a mountain of blankets with chocolate and a good book.
