Business chic on top, pyjamas on the bottom
How is isolation and social distancing going for you?! Are the days melting into one? Getting cabin fever? Forgetting to wear pants? Don’t’ worry because we bet you’re not the only one! This week we’re sharing a few fun things and events that have shifted to online, to spice up your time spent in the house during this pandemic!
Though the annual Gold Coast Film Festival has unfortunately been cancelled due to COVID19, the festival’s Screen Industry Gala Awards will be moved to an online live-streamed event! The ceremony will feature 14 award categories recognising the best short films, webseries, feature films and scripts with $20,000 in cash and prizes given to deserving filmmakers. Tonight's the night so register to support our talented local filmmakers here! Dress code for the event? A mix of pyjama and red carpet glamour!
If you’re a lover of all things shopping and searching for unique local market finds, you’re in luck because creators of GC’s The Village Markets in Burleigh are moving the entire community market online! What a brilliant way to shop from the comfort of your home while continuing to support our local creative businesses! All your favourite stalls from fashion, artists, vintage, ceramicists, makers, creators, food venders and live music by local artists will be involved in The Village’s Insta Market every weekend. So head on over to The Village Markets’ Instagram page for exclusive special offers on unique products. Happy shopping from home, indeed!
If you miss hitting up the town on Saturday nights with the girls, we totally feel you! But thanks to GC musician Ella Fence, we can still bust out our dance moves on a different type of dance floor… the living room floor! Every Saturday night Ella will be performing her original songs and covers for an hour set via live stream on Facebook! Admission is just $5 but not to worry if you don’t have cash to spare at the moment, she will be playing a FREE warm up set every Saturday as well. We’re in this thing together so let’s support our local artists!
