Here For Hope

This week, we’re spreading the feeling of hope. Keep on reading to see new happenings on the GC that will give us hope for a little normality in our lives and hope that we’ll all get through the other side of this pandemic!

Tonight’s the night! The anticipated Gold Coast Music Awards are scheduled to showcase the musical talent of the GC, Thursday April 30th at 7pm, live streamed virtually on of course! Just because we’re stuck at home because of COVID-19, doesn’t mean the wow-factor of the awards won’t be present! Aussie legends Tones and I, Amy Shark and Sophie Monk will be guest appearing, so set your Facebook reminders now! Free for all to join, tune in to a night of stellar lounge room performances from the comfort of your own couch from some of the City’s best up and coming acts from Casey Barnes, Eliza & The Delusionals, and more.

Wine + dinner = winner! No need to worry about a wine shortage, as Lo-Fi wine directors James Audas and Tom Sheer have fast-tracked the launch of The Borough Box, a new monthly natural wine delivery subscription. This will help them stay afloat during this pandemic as their usual business as wine wholesalers to restaurants has unfortunately come to a halt. Get six natural wines delivered to your door in an instant with free delivery on the first Monday of every month – no commitment required as you can opt out anytime! Everyone has bulked up on toilet paper and hand sanitiser, so wine not stock up on a bottle or two of your favourite red or white to get you through this quarantine!

Treat yourself to the easiest shopping experience you’ve ever had! Helensvale and Coomera Westfield Shopping Centres have launched a contactless Click & Collect Service so that you can order from multiple retailers online and drive on thru to pick up your goodies. Westfield Direct connects customers to a variety of products of everyday essentials to fresh food and quick eat options. Enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and bite to go without worrying about finding the time to prepare it yourself. All you need to do is head to your designated pick-up location! Such a great and convenient way to still support our hospo businesses!

The global pandemic has been such a trying time for us all, though we can’t help but think of those who have it worse off than others - those within the community who can’t afford food or can’t return home. OzHarvest - Australia’s first perishable food rescue organisation, help the vulnerable people within our community by collecting quality excess food from over 2,000 commercial outlets, such as fruit and vegetable markets, wholesalers, farmers, catering companies, delis, cafes and restaurants, and deliver the food free of charge to more than 1,300 charities. OzHarvest makes sure that leftovers don’t go to waste! The not-for-profit organisation needs our help in this to continue feeding those who rely on them. What you can do is pledge a donation – as little as $1 from each transaction will provide 2 meals for those in need! Or simply share the #HereForHope campaign with your friends, family and social networks to get the word out to keep OzHarvest operating. Let’s do our part and support each other as every little bit counts!
