GC WORD ON THE STREET #168
New In The Nest
It’s been a hot minute since we’ve delivered anything new in the nest, but things are changing since restrictions have been eased, which means… we’re back to business, baby! Here are a few things our GC businesses are doing to transition into this new normal and give us locals a little excitement and joy at the same time!
DRAG QUEEN DRIVE-THRU | MIAMI MARKETTA
Drag Queens are slaying the scene at GC’s hot-spot, Miami Marketta! Yep, you read that right! When you pull up to Miami Marketta, you’ll be greeted by these Queens who will give you the chance to win a free street food voucher on your next visit just by spinning a wheel! Talk about an entrance! The space has been transformed into a drive-thru hall where you can grab your favourite street food and booze from the comfort of your car! Just roll on through and place your orders from popular stalls like Kudo Bros, The Hungry Belly and Brisket Boss, and they’ll bring your food straight to your car door. Wash it all down with some beer, wine or yummy cocktails too! Get in while you can and head on down every Friday and Saturday night from 5pm for a drive-thru experience like non-other.
RESTAURANT DINE-IN | SANCTUARY COVE
Water-front dining with spectacular views? Say no more! Sanctuary Cove Marine Village is home to many delicious restaurants and cafes and after being given the green light, a selection of theses venues are welcoming back customers to dine in house! The places reopening include Anchor Buoy, Artichoke Restaurant & Bar, Bistro 19, Dragon Cove Chinese Restaurant, Jonez on Food and Quay Street Café. Bookings are essential and we still need to adhere to social distancing practices so there will be a max. of 10 guests at each venue. Grab your party of nine or your significant other and escape to the Marine Village for a night of good food and laughter – what we’ve all been missing!
BOBS BEER | SURFERS PARADISE
There’s a newbie in town! A state-of-the-art taproom and brewhouse dining is set to open in the heart of Surfers Paradise, late 2020. This gives us hope that our days will be filled with drinking and eating at our local faves with close to no restrictions by then, (fingers crossed!). Bobs Beer will be a three-storey brewhouse situated on the corner of Elkhorn and Orchid Avenue, showcasing GC’s best of beer and a slightly fancier food menu than your usual pub feed. The project is still in the works and the roll out depends on our current world situation. So, continue to wash those hands and keep your distance, friends! Nonetheless, we know this newbie will be where our first epic post-quarantine memories are made. Let’s clink to that!
