The Gold Coast's Best Cocktails

If you’re splashing out and spending your hard-earned coin on a cocktail, you want it to tick all the boxes. Lucky for you, the Gold Coast has its fair share of incredible restaurants and bars, who have all absolutely nailed the art of mixology. Whether you’re after the classics or something with an added flair, the coast’s bartenders are guaranteed to make your cocktail dreams come true.

Better yet, use this list as the ultimate bar crawl for your next night out.

A favourite among locals and tourists alike, Surfers Paradise’s The Island serves up cocktails from one of the most extensive menus on the Coast. Picture yourself on their sunny rooftop with a margarita in hand and a plate of their delicious felafel tacos, sounds pretty damn perfect.

For the inner child in all of us, Milky Lane will fill every single one of your extravagant cocktail cravings. Bueno cocktail? Check. Bubble-gum Sour? Yes please! Reese’s Peanut Butter Martini? Drool! To take things to that even more extreme level, grab yourself a Willy Wonka Nerd shot. Milky Lane will fill you with nostalgia while you enjoy a cocktail or ten.

This Mexican joint serves up some of the best frozen margarita jugs, dare I say, in the world. From the trusty classic margarita to their sweet, sweet watermelon marg, their jugs are a must! If you’re not a frozen margarita kind of guy or gal, give their fresh passionfruit margarita a go, it is to die for. If tequila isn’t your thing – no worries! Their new Dragonfruit Mojito is sure to impress.

Miami’s The Henchman offers up all your favourite classic cocktails with a twist. Their cocktail menu is short but sweet and will leave you wanting to order at least two of each. Their Apple Pie Sour is a real crowd pleaser, and you definitely can’t go wrong with the Passionfruit Caipiroska. Finish your evening with their Zombie Apocalypse, a concoction of rum, pineapple juice, passionfruit syrup and orange liqueur, yum!

At just over a year old, Rosella’s brings all things Australiana to Burleigh. Their cocktails serve up native vibes in the most Aussie way. Their Zooper Dooper Spritz is a cocktail with, yep, you guessed it, an entire Zooper Dooper in it, how can you go past that? Rosella’s entire cocktail list has cheeky references to iconic Australian culture, including the Never Never, the Lorikeet Bird Bath, the Salty Cattle Dog and the Ironman. If you find yourself in Burleigh looking for a new bar to visit, Rosella’s is a must.

This list wouldn’t be complete without the iconic Burleigh Pavilion. It has *the* best view on the entire Gold Coast, especially for a sunset sesh. Their cocktails are just an added bonus. The Pav’s Lychee Paradise is the perfect accompaniment to watch the sky turn into fairy floss above the ocean, or perhaps a sangria jug is more your vibe?

After you’ve had some sunset cocktails at Burleigh Pavilion, head downstairs to Rick Shores. Here you can indulge in a seriously delectable meal all the while sipping on a cocktail. Their signature gin cocktail menu is hard to go past, but once you have one of their King Tide cocktails you won’t be able to stop. Sweet and tangy and everything in between, their cocktail list will have something for everyone.

Just a quick hop, skip and a jump over the border and you’ll find yourself at Casuarina’s Spice Den. Okay, so it’s technically not on the Gold Coast as such, but it is a must visit. Their Chilli Margarita is a favourite among locals as well as the delicious Sour Apple Martini. Spice Den’s mixologists have had years of practise, so you just know you’re going to be served up one of the best cocktails of your life.

We are spoilt for choice on the Gold Coast when it comes to drool-worthy cocktails. This list is just a teaser on what the Coast has on offer, so get out there and give them a go! I know you want to.

I love all things fashion, food and travel. A holiday filled with drool-worthy food and Carrie Bradshaw-inspired fashion and I’m weak at the knees. Born in Brisbane and raised on the NSW far north coast, my passions and personal flair are influenced by a term I like to call “coastal-chic”. I’m a sucker for a rom-com (I don’t even want to think about how many times I’ve watched The Devil Wears Prada), but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
