Seaduction Winter Menu
Not every menu tasting is alike and if you haven’t already experienced the ever-opulent Seaduction Restautant + Bar located inside Peppers Soul in Surfers Paradise, do yourself a flavour and book. We were lucky enough to experience the multi course Winter tasting menu whilst overlooking uninterrupted views of Gold Coast’s glistening beaches.
Executive Chef James Fiske describes the seasonally changing menus as “technically brilliant combinations of taste and texture, with innovative touches of molecular gastronomy.” ... and we tend to agree it is simply brilliant.
Each of the 6 courses were perfectly paired with specially selected red and white wine and port by Seaduction’s Sommelier Esther. The pairing that absolutely stole the show though was the perfectly balanced bittersweet flavours of a digestif called Amaro Montenegro. The floral and earthy flavours paired perfectly with our first dish of Violet Potato and Leek Truffle. What are violet potatoes you may ask? They are a gourmet French variety of blue-violet potato that have been cultivated in France since the early 19th century… and it was the prettiest shade purple (almost too pretty to eat).
From there we were guided through the rest of the menu which consisted of S.A Sardines with Brioche + Tomato + Avocado and Basil, Baked Suckling Pig w Eggplant + Brawn and Pigs Ears and Red Wine Braised Beef Cheek with Cabbage and Onion which were spaced out beautifully over our 4 hour lunch experience.
Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly fit in anymore delicious morsels of food we were informed there would be not one but two desserts… and we all know there is always room for dessert! First up was a scrumptious orange and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) cake with a thick, rich and creamy buffalo curd which melted in the mouth. The last but definitely not the least was a Valrhona Chocolate (the finest French chocolate and Matcha Tea gelato balanced by the crunch of the Sesame crisp.
If I had to describe this dining experience in 2 words they would be 'simply superb'. The amazing dishes along with the excellent service and impeccable backdrop is the perfect way to indulge the senses.
